The CenDiv SCCA road racing season technically kicks off in April, but the first event at our home track, Brainerd International Raceway, is where we really start our season. This year has began in a big way with our group supporting TEN racecars. Here is a break down of the weekend.
Two drivers new to the SCCA joined the team with a BMW 235iR and a Spec Miata sponsored by Jones Coffee. Both drivers made excellent progress getting accustomed to BIR. Every session they became more competitive and improved their lap times.

The veteran drivers, Sam and Andrew, had pace with the front of the Spec Miata pack, but a transponder issue resulted in number 47 (Sam) having to start from the back of the field. He quickly made it through traffic, but ran out of laps before reaching the lead group. Number 21 (Andrew) held onto the mid-pack with a lot of back and forth action. Sunday proved more challenging as some small mistakes took both cars out of the lead batch of Miatas, resulting in both cars finishing in the top 10.

At the end of the day the event went smoothly without major mechanical issues. This was a very welcome outcome after the many set-backs faced in the previous SCCA season. The team is looking forward to more close racing over the 2025 summer.
And, don’t forget to support the great local businesses that keep Road Racing in Minnesota thriving!
