Take the next step in the world of grassroots motorsport.
Local road racers have come together to sponsor a scholarship to expand wheel to wheel road racing in Minnesota. The principal aim of this scholarship is to remove the upfront cost of obtaining a Competition Road Racing license and grow sports car racing in Minnesota.
This scholarship will provide the following to a deserving candidate for the 2024 SCCA Road Racing season in Minnesota.
- Spec Miata arrive and drive experience with a local amateur road racing team.
- Driver safety gear for the events.
- Enrollment in Brainerd International Raceway SCCA Driving School, May 21st to 23rd.
- Entry into the SCCA road race at Brainerd International Raceway on May 25th and 26th.
- SCCA Competition License fee coverage.
Criteria
Requirements for consideration.
- 18 Years or older with a valid MN drivers license
- Previous driving experience (HPDE, Karts, Sim Racing)
- Safely fit into available Spec Miata racecar
- Obtain a sports physical from your doctor
- Agree to signing liability waiver and pay refundable damage deposit
- Volunteer for 2 other SCCA events (one must be a road race)
Timeline
Important scholarship dates.
- March 31 – Application deadline
- April 8 – Driver announcement
- April 14 – Meet and greet/test racecar fitment
- April 30 – Sports physical and paperwork completed
- May 10 – Waivers and deposit due
- May 21 to 23 – Driving school
- May 25 and 26 – SCCA Racing
- TBD – SCCA Volunteering
- August 24 and 25 – SCCA Volunteering
