The Sharon and Harvey West Memorial Divisional race at Brainerd International Raceway was a barn-burner that turned into an engine-burner. Sam Nogosek, Driver of Spec Miata #47, put the car on pole position in front of 22 other drivers. After an exciting race with many position changes he landed in second place due to his engine losing power on the last half of the last lap. Then the engine failed spectacularly while crossing the finish line. Despite the failure, no one was disappointed with the race! Check out the in-car video to get a feel for Spec Miata Racing!
Backing up a few days, the Minnesota Road Racing Scholarship winner Garrett successfully completed the SCCA Full Competition school. This earned him a license to race the same weekend. He learned a lot about racing in Spec Miata and finished both days in the mid-field without incident. Best of luck to him in his future racing endeavors.

This weekend the team also hosted two Bühler Group apprentices in the paddock. They helped support the team’s racecars for both Saturday and Sunday’s racing. Jacob and Mac took care of mechanic duties between sessions to keep everything running in top form while learning the importance of teamwork in motorsports.

A huge thanks to all the family and business sponsors that make these weekends possible.
