Mid Summer Classic, Road Trip to Buhler Prince, GingerMan

A tight back to back race weekend schedule for the team meant no room or errors. Starting with testing at Brainerd International Raceway July 7th, we gathered data and made preparations for the Mid Summer Classic SCCA Divisional race. Jenkins racing was once again fielding three Buhler Group sponsored race cars for the event. The third car (number 76) was driven by previous Grassroots Motorsport Scholarship winner Mitch. The weekend held two main races with the Buhler cars placing in formation from 3rd to 5th.

The turn around was extremely short, as the team re-organized the trailers in one day, then hit the road. The destination of Holland, Michigan is the home of the Buhler Prince manufacturing facility. The Buhler Prince Die-Casting branch of the Buhler Group has been a long time supporter of Jenkins Racing. Their customers are at the heart of the automotive industry and we are happy to visit the employees.

Then final leg of the road trip led our team to GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan. After shaking down the cars at the Friday test day, we went into the SCCA Bert Majors with some confidence. Despite it being a new track, Sam Nogosek and Andrew Jenkins were able to pick up speed quickly. Unfortunately mixed weather conditions proved difficult and qualifying didn’t go as planned. In the end the cars ran strong, but our inexperience with the challenging track left us running near the back of the Spec Miata field.

Thanks to everyone on the team and supporters from Buhler Prince that supported us throughout the weekend!
