The first race of the year with Buhler Group and Hammer Wood Floors at Brainerd International Raceway started Jenkins Racing with a battle up front and in the mid-pack.
After having supported new students obtaining their SCCA Competition License for the previous three days, it was time to stop teaching and start learning about being fast in 2021. The qualifying and race sessions went well for both Sam Nogosek and Andrew Jenkins. Car 21 was in fourth until lapped traffic on the last lap caused a lost position. The final result was a 9th and 5th place for the team.
Sunday immediately went the other direction. After two laps during the morning warm up car 21 suffered a catastrophic rear differential failure. The car could not be repaired in time and the team was forced to use a back up car for the remaining sessions. Car 47 continued to run well and once again qualified mid-pack. Unfortunately the back up car suffered electrical problems after 11 laps and had to retire. Sam finished the race for Jenkins Racing, netting a 7th place finish.
The upcoming weeks will require a push from the team to get two cars repaired before the next Divisional race at Black Hawk Farms Raceway in three weeks.
